New Face At The Novotel

Illawarra Mercury

Tuesday January 26, 1999

Novotel Northbeach's new executive assistant manager Glenn Connell has traded sunny Queensland for the Illawarra.

And according to the father of two, it's a welcome change both personally and professionally.

Mr Connell has worked within the Accor group of hotels, which includes the Novotel chain, for the past 14 years.

Sydney-born, Mr Connell has worked his way up the corporate ladder in hotels and resorts from Perth, through Hayman Island, on to Townsville, then Cairns and now Wollongong.

The Novotel welcomes Mr Connell, who has taken the place of Amit Mitra who is enjoying his new position as general manager of the St Leonard's Mercure Resort.

As executive assistant manager of the Novotel Northbeach, Mr Connell will be in charge of the large food and beverage department, which includes Windjammers Restaurant, Admirals Restaurant, the Lobby Bar and the Beach Bar.

Mr Connell will also look after in-room dining, house-keeping, front office reservations and conferencing.

``The Novotel Northbeach has a good reputation within the group and the hotel is heading in a good direction and I am glad to be a part of that," he said.

``There is a lot going on this year including the introduction of a gaming room and the refurbishment of the fourth floor as well as some work on the rooms so it is an exciting time to be joining the hotel."
